The Year of Bad NFL Teams

Six teams were held to single-digit scores, including the goose egg posted by Oakland. I haven't seen mismatches this bad since Julia Roberts married Lyle Lovett. The disparity between the NFL's best and worst teams is getting more pronounced by the week. Ladd Biro ~ Pittsburgh Post Gazette

When they play poorly, they are the worst team in the league, hands down. And yes, I'm aware this is a historical year for very, very bad NFL teams. But, when Bad Raiders show up, they trump all the rest. Justin Smith ~ Bleacher Report

Week 7 Summary

There were 5 losers this week; 4 with NYG, and 1 with CAR.

These were bad picks, but that's what it takes for someone else to win. Consider this: all 5 of the losers could have selected NYJ over OAK, all 5 could have selected SD over KC, 4 could have selected NE over TAM in London, 4 could have selected GB over CLE, and 1 could have selected IND over STL. These losing teams have a combined record of 4-31. They were outscored this weekend 23-183. NYG lost to AZ, CAR lost to BUF. AZ and BUF are a combined 7-6.

I heard one NFL analysis exclaim that "the bottom of the NFL barrel is the worst it has ever been." He may be right, there are 5 really bad teams (not including winless TEN - because they may win a few.)

Week 6 Summary

There was a big change from the past two perfect weekends. 20 entrants picked losing teams.

1 had CIN. The Bengals were hot, but playing over their heads. They came down to earth at the hands of HOU.

11 had PHI. The Eagles went out west and were beaten by OAK. A shocker no doubt, especially to those who took PHI.

8 had NYJ. The Jets lost to BUF at home in overtime.

Of the 20 who lost, 6 lost for the second time. Say goodbye to former champions Doug Horstman and Ralph Berry. Others gone for the year are Andy Guess, Sam Heermans, Kim Parker, and Judy Williams.

Suddenly there are only 14 in the running for first place.
